Training case study

Situation

A large manufacturing client was implementing a new Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) operating system, and wanted to change the everyday processes and procedures that their operating companies followed. They asked TACTICS to help them:

  • document the new processes and procedures
  • train ‘super users’ to use the ERP system to a level where they could then train staff back at their relevant operating company, and
  • conduct regional localisation workshops.

Critical issue

The understanding of written and spoken English varied throughout the operating companies. Although English was deemed a suitable language to train in for the most part, translations and specific plans had to be implemented for:

  • Malaysia
  • Indonesia
  • Philippines
  • Sri Lanka, and
  • Middle East.

TACTICS’ approach

To prepare users for the new ERP system, TACTICS focused on:

  • demystifying the system
  • giving users access to knowledge and skills
  • encouraging the use of the new system, and
  • supporting users before, during and after the system implementation.

Successful result

Over 60 super users were trained in the ERP system, as well as over 200 general system users. Our client found that there was a fast and accurate uptake of the new system following the training programme. Following this project, TACTICS continues to provide business-as-usual (BAU) training and support for this client.
